Lamar CISD achieves Recognized status

Lamar CISD is a Recognized school district, based on results from the 2010 assessment tests.

Late last week, the Texas Education Agency officially informed Texas schools of their rankings. All told, 94 percent of Lamar CISD’s campuses – 28 out of 30 – are either Exemplary or Recognized.

Exemplary is the highest rating in the accountability system, followed by Recognized, acceptable and unacceptable.

Eighteen campuses earned Exemplary and 10 are ranked Recognized. Two are rated Acceptable.

Austin, Bowie, Campbell, Dickinson, Frost, Hubenak, Huggins, Hutchison, Long, McNeill, Meyer, Ray, Thomas, Travis, Velasquez and Williams elementary schools and Wertheimer and Wessendorff middle schools, were all rated Exemplary.

Jackson, Pink, Seguin and Smith elementary schools are Recognized, as are Navarro Middle School, Lamar, George and Briscoe junior highs and Terry and Foster high schools.

“We are happy with the progress we are making,” Lamar CISD Superintendent Dr. Thomas Randle said about the results. “Every student, parent, teacher, principal and all school employees should be proud. We expect this trend to continue and I hope this time next year we are celebrating more great news.”
